You may notice today that several security companies are starting to employee more unarmed security guards. Unarmed security guards offer great protection and can be employed for any occasion including personal protection, wealthy people, socialites, celebrities, to working in areas like shopping malls, schools, universities, retail outlets, and other locations where just their presence is a deterrent to crime.

Many unarmed security guards are trained in some form of self defense. They might also have a previous background in either law enforcement or military training. Due to the nature of their previous training they make the perfect candidates to work as unarmed security guards. Many former police offices or military personal enter the private sectors as unarmed security guards as a supplement to their retirement benefits.  Since they are looking to fill a void in the security field, this make a win-win situation for everyone. Since they are unarmed it is easier for them to blend into situations and provided the necessary coverage while remaining inconspicuous. Some states require that anyone wishing to become an unarmed security guard be licensed and registered with the state. Some of the requirements to obtain this license are to be considered mentally competent, be of good moral character, be free of any chemical or alcohol dependency, and be free of any convictions. They might also be required to submit their fingerprints to the state or to the FBI for a criminal history check. You should check with the state you intend to work in to see what their requirements are, if any.

Each and every day, the number of horrible crimes that plaster our newspapers and TV channels news increases. We used to do all sorts of things without any fear, but now we just cannot do the same things that we used to be able to do. People are dying every day because of ruthless criminals who have no respect for human life. It is no longer safe to let your child ride their bike around the block. Fear has become the number one reason that people no longer help each other. You just cannot trust anyone any more. Years ago, you would never think twice about stopping to help someone who was broke down or in trouble.

Now, in today’s society, you just cannot trust who might stop or who is broken down. Sadly enough when your car breaks down with children in it, you might just as well start planning to walk as help is not going to stop for you. People that normally would have helped are now in fear of their lives. People that normally would have spoken to their neighbors will probably finish their life living next door to someone that you will never speak to.
